About
Hello dear friend! If you are having a look here, it is maybe because you have some interest in sex and pleasure neuroscience. You are in good company :)
Even if sexual pleasure is still a bit neglected by mainstream neuroscientific research, lots of brave and competent people are trying to push the boundary of our knowledge about this fascinating phenomenon. During my PhD, mainly focused on pain perception, I decided that I wanted to be part of them. But how to start? How to transition to such a different academic field?
This is more or less the story of an attempt.
I have decided to share all the intellectual work I could come up with, in order to make your life easier (you are welcome): by doing research on any phenomenon, we are controlling the means of production of that phenomenon. We are shaping what we want to define. Thus, these means need to be accessible and understandable for as many people as we can, if we ever want to progress outside our preconceptions.
But this is not just a practical tutorial - because why not? It is a messy collection of thoughts spanning different domains: from personal research struggles as a very chaotic neurodivergent and queer scientist, to the relevance of fostering public discourse around sexual pleasure, to the societal and political impact we may hold as academics and researchers.
Enjoy ;)
